Get Active Vacations

Ahh – vacation! With spring break coming up, followed shortly by our beautiful Wisconsin summer, I have been thinking about vacation, but with the increase in gas prices and overall concerns about the economy, vacation seemed out of reach.  Ta Da! Get Active Today has created three affordable vacation options that encourage activity and enhance family bonding while supporting the ever-needed element – relaxation.

Did I mention there is evidence that vacation is physically good for you? Well, I should mention that it is!

Below are some recommendations for spring break (or summer, or whenever…). Try them out and share what you liked OR tell us about your favorite Wisconsin Vacation Options!

Staying near home? Explore Milwaukee!

Here are some great ideas for Kicking It Up in Milwaukee! Consider a stay at Hilton Milwaukee and Paradise Landing. Not only does it give you a night away from home, but you can enjoy a tropical getaway – without the hassle of tropical bugs. Huge plus! Then hop on your bikes and hit some of Wisconsin’s trails or, for an indoor bike adventure, try Ray’s Indoor Mountain Bike Park. Not into biking? Try ping pong at Spin Milwaukee. Susan Sarandon does it, so….well, you decideBowling at Bayshore Town Center is always a family favorite.  I feel I should divulge that we still play with the bumper guards up. Hey – we think it is a lot more fun that way! The Mummies exhibit at Milwaukee Public Museum is a definite and for the younger crowd, a visit to Betty Brinn Children’s Museum always provides a great outlet for exploration.

Up for a little drive? Try Sheboygan

Start out the day exploring Kohler-Andrae State Park where you can explore the sand dunes and obeserve the wildlife reappearing from their winter slumber. Then head over to Above and Beyond Children’s Museum where you can climb through the Tree House Adventure or play the Whompamaphone. I am not telling what this is – so you have to find out for yourself! Finish out the evening with a live performance at Stefanie H. Weill Center for the Performing Arts or John Michael Kohler Arts Center. Make it an overnight at Blue Harbor Resort where you will enjoy world-class comfort, the fun of a waterpark and  beautiful views of Lake Michigan.

Want to get out of dodge? Why not the Dells?

Wisconsin Dells offers everything from amusement and waterparks to outdoor adventure. Where to stay? Try Kalahari Resort. where they are offering a spring break special. Looking for more amusement? Try Knuckleheads Amusement Park. Be sure to get outside the waterparks and amusement parks to explore the area’s natural beauty.  Bring your bikes (or rent them) to explore Mirror Lake State Park, Devil’s Lake State Park or to ride the many great trails!  Don’t miss the new fully paved, scenic Dells RiverWalk.

Psst! Did I mention vacation is good for you?
